Hello! My name is Adrienne McKinney, and this is my site. I got my start sewing bags over eleven years ago, in a weeklong sewing class at a local community college when my oldest child was barely old enough to walk. In the class, we constructed a simple tote made from a fabric place mat and a couple of feet of grosgrain ribbon. It was such fun, and from then on, I was hooked on sewing. Although my first career is teaching, playing, and composing for piano and horn, in the late evenings and most mornings, I am free to sew. I find it rewarding and challenging, and am delighted to offer my handbags for sale to you.
I still keep several of my early creations nearby as keepsakes and inspiration, but my designing and construction techniques have developed a great deal over the years. I currently work with upholstery fabric and vinyl/faux leather, and am embarking on several projects upcycling leather from second-hand jackets.
Most of my items for sale are original, one-of-a-kind creations, although I also have three template designs, created myself: the Amelia and Clara purses, and the zipper display pocket tote, designed for independent sales consultants to display their wares in style — but also great for showing off photos and finding items quickly through the clear vinyl window.
I select colorful patterned or solid color fabrics as linings, and use a variety of materials, including cotton, cotton-poly blends, and lightweight canvas for a little panache. If you see something you like, but it is already sold, or you prefer a different fabric, color, or size, please let me know and I will make your purse to order. The pictures below are some of the items I’ve sold.
